In honor of National Reading Month, our sister market, SA YES unveiled a “Little Library” in the Harlandale Independent School District in San Antonio, Texas. On Monday, March 2, 2020, this “Little Library” was introduced to the public in the Sosa Parent Education Center, the only family center in the district. It will offer free books for students and parents that span a wide variety of topics including cooking, computer programming, parenting, and will have books for all reading levels. The “Little Library” will provide educational resources for the whole family, including 14,000 students in the district to enjoy. Reading has many benefits for people of all ages, from childhood education to professional development, and can even be utilized to reduce stress.
This endeavor is the first of its kind for SA YES and will fulfill the last “Little Library” needed for the elementary schools in the district. As part of SA YES’ mission, the organization strives to continue to provide necessary resources to Title 1 Elementary schools in San Antonio, and the “Little Library” creates a unique opportunity to do so.
This educational initiative will positively impact an entire community. Harlandale Independent School District is nestled in the southside of San Antonio, where history and traditions thrive. The addition of the “Little Library” will supplement the district by providing a growing and thriving resource for its community members.
